Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

Kenai: I don't know any specifics about the Jungle Book Spanish translation, I don't speak Spanish myself, but I know a few principles of translation. Especially when it comes to the songs, it's probably not a very literal translation, because the priority is to get the rhyme and rhythm right, while...

Re: Frozen: Part V

Victurtle: You sound like you have a point. Recognize that I have not seen the most recent films, but am surmising their content from the marketing. I think if the movies are not more comedic, the marketing is very misrepresentative. It is definitely of a different tone than what I remember from 20 ...

Re: Frozen: Part V

Thought I would chime in here on Frozen. I have to confess that although I am a hopeless Disney animation fan, I have not seen any Animated Classic from a The Princess and the Frog on. Don't be too hard on me, I haven't seen Monsters U either. Why? It's not on purpose, it's just that I haven't been...

Re: The Jungle Book - diamond edition

I had the great pleasure of downloading The Jungle Book from iTunes and showing it to my Latino 3-year-old nephew in Spanish. He's used to watching in Spanish when it's available because it's the first language he started speaking, but I also intend to show it to him with the original English soundt...

Re: Dropping by to say hello

Hello to everyone! Renata, yo! :) I just thought I would share my most recent article for Mandatory Tech, which is kind of a summary of why I switched from buying discs to exclusively streaming. I think the audience at this site would find it interesting. Imbedded is a little video of my current hom...

Re: Dropping by to say hello

Good to see some familiar faces. Yes, I've not had much of an online presence on UD or elsewhere from the time I left till 2012. It really wasn't a rejection of technology but a reorganizing of priorities. My volunteer work mostly required that I work long hours and I didn't live in a place with int...

Dropping by to say hello

Hello to those who might recognize me and those who might not. I feel compelled to post after a long absence to express my gratitude for the experience I gained on this site in my adolescence that is benefiting me now as blogger. Ultimate Disney was my first real community experience on the internet...

I wish I could say differently, but The Princess and the Frog looks like a disappointment. I've always been wary of the project turning out a little too reminiscant of prior Disney films and my expectations were realized in the latest trailer. Everything from the songs (Where have I heard "when...

The movie was creative and interesting, which vouches for the source material I've never read, but a little uneven in its pacing and plot development. There was too much time spent on Willis' spousal relationship. The climax was pretty neat.

Jehovah's Witnesses are doing exactly what Jesus said to do, to go forth and preach the good news of God's Kingdom. They knock on your door because they care about you and the rest of the people in your neighborhood. It is their obligation as Christians. You don't have to come to other people's doo...

IMO...I wish all religions acted that way. Minded their own business, stayed happy being who they are and what they believed in, and stopped bothering the rest of us. No more Jehovah Witnesses knocking at my door at 10AM on a Saturday Jehovah's Witnesses are doing exactly what Jesus said to do, to ...

Re: Help much appreciated: Studying Disney for my coursework

1. Not so much a stereotype but more of an idealized version for younger minds. 2. Yes, as they are all positive figures and hark workers, playing an active role in the relationships with their respective suitors. 3. I think Enchanted says a lot about that. 4. Belle. A reader, a yearner, brave, some...

Watched 9 in the theatre, which I thought was a live action movie before realizing it was animated. A very bland retread of familiar themes. Bleak machine-ravaged future: check. Cowardly leader: check. Newcomer challenger: check. Feminine action hero: check. Big dumb bully: check. Scared-silly sidek...

I believe both secular humanism and hypocritical religion are dissaproved by God. Wide and spacious is the road leading to destruction while narrow is the road leading off into life, so said Jesus.

I borrowed and read The Lost Symbol, which held my attention but featured jarringly shoddy writing for a writer who's a megaseller. The biggest reveal of the book is how low the stakes are.

Never read the book, but I thought the movie was too episodic and didn't really have any direction. The characters also lacked motivation, as if they do everything because they think they're just supposed to (I think Rachel McAdam's character even makes a self-referencial comment about that. Eric Ba...

I've heard some use the argument that since the victim has managed to move on from the crime the justice system should do the same. :o
