Re: Disney Dolls

I don’t own any ily 4ever dolls but I think they are pretty popular with collectors, no? They are cute!

I ordered the LE Mary Poppins doll but she’s on back order and won’t come until next month. :(

Re: Aladdin 2

Sounds like he hasn’t heard anything in a while though.

Aladdin and Jasmine’s kids might make a popular Disney Jr show, wouldn’t want to see it in a movie.

Re: Julie Andrews Discussion Thread

It can almost drive! Tooth Fairy was Julie’s last on-screen appearance in a movie, but in 2017, Julie Andrews starred in a children’s series for Netflix called Julie’s Greenroom . It was produced by the Jim Henson Company and also starred puppets from their workshop. They only made 13 episodes, but ...

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

Duster , I am sure you are right about those details. It has been probably more than 10 years since I read that book. And thank you for the good luck! I’m up to the first episode of season 4 of Downton Abbey . I did not remember that Lady Sybil and Matthew Crawley both died in season three. I thoug...

Re: Don Bluth's Anastasia (1997) coming to 4K

There isn’t official confirmation yet, unfortunately. It looks like the news comes from a Facebook page, “Dawn of the Discs,” which does not appear to have a reliable source for this announcement. I think they heard Anastasia got a 4K remaster and jumped the gun, assuming a physical release would fo...

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

When Disney announced they were doing the Into the Woods movie, I was hopeful because they do fairy tales better than anyone. But of course, you’re right. In the end, they let their legacy get in the way and what we got was a middling adaptation of a great stage musical. And it was so dark and blue ...

Re: Julie Andrews Discussion Thread

Julie Andrews shared this statement encouraging donations to the charity she co-founded, Operation USA, in the wake of the devastating LA wildfires: “Having spent so much of my life in Los Angeles, I am deeply saddened and concerned by the wildfires that are causing such devastation there. I’ve serv...

I have a great big plush of Star I got for 60% off that I love. I hope they keep using Star, I think that character could have Tinker Bell/Jiminy Cricket status if they keep using it.

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

I need to watch recording with Angela Lansbury!! Interesting about Sondheim's thoughts - do you happen to know what he thought about other adaptations of his musicals? Like Into the Woods? The Angela Lansbury version used to be up on YouTube in its entirety (I think that’s probably how I originally...

Re: Mary Poppins Discussion Thread

I have never bought any of these light up figures— I never buy anything with lights because I expect them to break down. But this one’s in my cart!! So rare to get anything of Mary in her traveling costume, and I just think it’s a beautiful piece.

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

I also thought the Sweeney Todd film was decent. I’m not a fan of that movie, but I know many people are. I think Sondheim himself said it was the best adaptation of one of his musicals. Speaking of musical films in general, I’d probably rank it below the Les Misérables film, which I think gets the...

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

I tend to not warm to most modern musicals myself. To me they sound all the same. I think Sondheim was a genius, but about 25 years ago everybody started imitating him and they have been mostly shit at it. That said— I don’t really seek out or make time to listen to new musicals. The last new music...

Re: Your LOVELY Movie Viewing Log

Started with Little Shop of Horrors - I watched both the theatrical ending and the original ending. Not sure which one I prefer, I guess the original is more poignant and makes much more sense, but I wish Seymour died more heroically and not as goody as it ended up. Ellen Greene is great and I'm gl...

Disney Store.com has re-stocked the famous Storybook Replica journals! The price tag is a little too rich for my blood, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen these in-stock and I know people like these:

Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls

I love her from the waist up, but I am not too sure how I feel about what looks like a big, curved overskirt to mimic her bustle. I agree… I think it would have worked better if they had just recreated her original look. I understand that they wanted the pink version but I think that Disney wanted ...

Re: Holes (TV Series)

When I saw this thread title, my first thought was that Holes was a natural choice to adapt for a Disney+ series. I could imagine something like a kid friendly version of Orange is the New Black , where each episode focuses on the backstory of a different kid at the camp. The book was a touchstone f...
