Re: Strange World

I haven't seen the movie yet (so far they are only showing it in dubbed version here), but it makes me sad that it is a science fiction movie. First Lightyear, and now this. Both a sci-fi and didn't do well at the box office. Disney is probably concluding that people don't want animated science fict...

Re: Apple to Buy Disney?

Sounds like the media is running amok with the rumors again. Apple insider says it will not happen:

Re: Luca

I have now seen the movie (some weeks ago actually). Most modern animated features normally feels obligated to insert a certain amount of action and adventure, afraid it would be boring if not. But it is fully possible to make completely innocent movies without anything bad or dangerous happening (a...

Re: Bob Chapek Named CEO of The Walt Disney Company

That's still a mystery. Since they wanted to keep him for three more years some months ago, the income back then can't have been that bad. Which makes me curious why this quarter was such a disaster.

06/29/2022: Disney CEO Bob Chapek Gets Three Year Contract Extension https://www.cartoonbrew.com/executives/bob-chapek-disney-ceo-contract-extension-218305.html That's actually less than five months ago, and it seems like Disney was so happy with him that they wanted him to stay at least three more...

I know what you mean, my anxiety kicked in just reading that. I hope they have a different/better idea in mind. Personally, I'd like if he's accepted as the ambassador because Earth is so low on the totem pole that no one could care less that he's a child. Then part of the plot is him trying to pro...

The fact that it only happened a few days before her birthday makes it extra sad. The first movie I can remember seeing her in was Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Walt's KayCee Studio

It was new for me that Walt was running another animation studio before his Laugh-O-Gram Studio. KayCee Studio was founded in 1921 and the next year it went bankrupt or changed its name to Laugh-O-Gram. https://www.hollywoodanimationacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/disneykc.pdf Also found out ...

Description: "A boy who finds himself transported across the galaxy & mistaken for the intergalactic Ambassador for our planet Earth." It looks interesting, but I hope this is not about him having to lie to the aliens pretending to be an actual Ambassador, and then doing whatever he ca...

Re: Pete Docter to Take Over Pixar

Three years ago Jim Morris claimed that "ten years from now" the veterans at Pixar would no longer direct movies.

I wasn't referring to the political views of Docter and the others, I meant the decision to make the team more diverse regarding genders and ethnicity seems politically based.

Re: Pete Docter to Take Over Pixar

What's wrong with Stanton? I have hard before that he is disliked by some, but so far there has not been any examples that explain why.

As for why none of the vetarans have joined Docter, it is a conscious and partly political choice.

When did Disney start shooting on negatives?

From the book "The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney": As an animator for Film Ad, Disney worked with cutout figures, their movable joints riveted with a device that the brother of another animator called “this little gun.” Those figures could be manipulated under the camera, their posit...

Re: List of abandoned projects

Interesting, but I think we are actually talking about two different projects here. Meet the Robinson was released in 2007, and Stephen Anderson suggested the movie called "The Earth and the Sky" shortly after. Then he went to work on Winnie the Pooh (2011), and heard that DreamWorks would...

Not that it is relevant for the movie, but I just remembered that water is the finished result of a chemical process, while fire is an ongoing chemical process. Which mean water is more stable and calm, unlike fire.

Re: WDAS Short Circuit

Because the purpose of these shorts, among other things, is to test new technology, it could be interesting to see if they could use "real time" animation as the foundation for a short. I just found this article, where former Pixar employee Mark Andrews explains how they have created a new...

Personally, I hadn't even heard of that comic before, but I'm not a big superhero fan. I've only become interested in superhero stuff in recent years, thanks mainly to Marvel films. I didn't read any superhero comics growing up and not many comics in general either, just some Disney ones. The only ...

Re: Pinocchio (Live-Action)

I didn't know it would be a musical, I wonder why they didn't mention it in the article. Well, it's quite common for directors to be obsessed with certain topics and feature them repeatedly in their films. He also likes to direct stories about protagonists who are seen as monsters by people. Appare...
