Re: Hexed

What stands out most to me with the character designs are the bright colors, which I'm a fan of. Casting choices? Also top-notch. I agree that mother-son pairings are regrettably rare in film, and so I'll miss the opportunity this could have been, but I suppose this is also the rare opportunity wher...

Re: Hoppers

I think from Pixar's perspective, the cartoony designs have been a deliberate rebuttal against their signature "Pixar look" that they defaulted to for like the first twenty years of their reign. I know I had seen some discussion about the studio resting on their laurels, basically daring t...

Shame. But it also means it'll be easier to license, meaning I might actually get to see it myself one of these days.

Re: Be Fri (Cancelled Pixar Film)

I think he and Lee were saddled with many of the same roadblocks, and those have done more to impede the success of their films than the actual quality of their leadership, which I think that journalists continue to deliberately overlook in the interest of a tastier news piece. (Mostly. I am still u...

Re: Be Fri (Cancelled Pixar Film)

A different former Pixar staffer tells THR that some employees are disappointed that the studio seems to let concerns about public perception lead its decision-making on movies like Elio and Be Fri. According to the individual, “the joke around Pixar” is that leadership “has no spine at all.” A rep...

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2026

"Supergirl" looks really promising, and "The Odyssey" is probably the most interested I've been in Chris Nolan's work. And I'm just so impressed that "Coyote vs Acme" got a release after all that of course I'm going to see it. "Disclosure Day" and "The En...

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2026

It looks really neat. I'll be keeping my eyes on this one for sure. My valid concern remains whether it'll gain any lasting traction as a streaming exclusive. Even the interesting movies that land there never seem to hold anyone's attention for very long. I know I'm writing this in the wake of "...

Re: Disney Princesses Got a Makeover

I really love both Brave's and Snow White's.

Those more intricate designs make me wish we'd gotten something fancier for Ariel. Perhaps the silhouette of her at the rocks? The one imitating the "mermaid" statue in Copenhagen?

Did Disney Really Steal Aladdin? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44chgavSaKA Lindsay Ellis has posted a video specifically on the Aladdin/Thief and the Cobbler controversy, which I previously knew very little of. I definitely hope so. I know "Let it Go" was performed for the first time with about the same ETA ahead of the first Frozen. I think they'd have something ready by then. I think it all just comes down to their present business practices and whether or not that fits in with their current vi...

Re: Frozen Discussion: Part V

I've always thought the climax and resolution for this film worked really well just in the way of all this rising tension and throwing all the characters into this giant white mess, and turning something like the ships lingering in the harbor into these death machines=stroke of genius. Even if the f...

Re: Moana (Live-Action)

Speaking just for myself, I much prefer the new "Harry Potter" trailer, which was absolutely not a given. I feel like with only a few short snapshots, it did a really impressive job at communicating the magic of the story, both the literal "Wingardium Leviosa" magic, and also jus...
