Re: The Universe has stomped on me thread. Rant or clear the air

Almost 30 years of existing, and I had my first visit in the emergency room as the patient on Monday. Became a huge cry baby in bed over pain throughout the day that ended up just being a kidney stone. Don't know if calling 911 was the right choice in hindsight, but it's what I needed at the time. I...

RIP Kevin Conroy

https://tvline.com/2022/11/11/kevin-conroy-dead-batman-voice-dies-obituary/ As a child of the 90s, I became a superhero fanatic because of the quality and care invested in Kevin's projects. They always say "don't meet your heroes", but Kevin was the exception. Always humble, and open spiri...

Re: Episode 4: A New Hope for Gay UD Threads?

Bumping this thread again to announce that I started taking HRT a couple days ago. Even if the body doesn't eventually match as the woman I identify as in my head, I am content with taking the risks knowing who I am. :float:

Old news by now, but like Pat Carroll, I still feel like Olivia needs to be acknowledged. :(

Re: Miscellaneous Film/TV Discussion

Saw Nope twice last week, but couldn't review it due to the forum outage. If you weren't able to figure out by the trailer, this is an alien horror movie, and another type of movie in disguise, that which I will not spoil. What makes this film particularly special for me is that this film is both a ...

Re: Miscellaneous Film/TV Discussion

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is a MASTERPIECE of Cinema. Do you feel fatigued from less fresh takes of imagination that taste likes stale leftovers? Do you remember when you last digested something that it felt original just from being different compared to your other options? That sense of w...

Re: Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett

I LOVED The Book of Boba Fett. I was howling animal noises of excitement for each episode. Up until The Mandalorian, I was not a fan of Boba Fett at all. IMO, he was not a real character in the Original Trilogy, just an action figure with a few lines. The character he grew as in this series was very...

Re: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Saw Shang-Chi yesterday with some friends, and we ADORED IT. This movie isn't a superhero movie. It's a martial arts fantasy movie in a superhero universe that fully embraces mythology, and has a sense of humor that doesn't detract it's consistent emotional sincerities. This movie felt like the clos...

Re: Miscellaneous Film/TV Discussion

Saw the new Candyman last night, and I loved it. I can't get behind some people's complaints of the movie saying it's just alright. This film has the exact same theme of the original: Fear of both madness and becoming a monster. Hell, it's the same theme of Nightmare on Elm Street 2, which that movi...

Re: Free Guy

Saw Free Guy with dear friends of mine over the weekend. This is a FUN popcorn movie that's also surprisingly deep too. At times it felt like a nice homage to John Carpenter's "They Live", and I LOVE IT.

Worth a watch for both gamers and movie fans of destiny vs free will.

Re: Miscellaneous Film/TV Discussion

Saw The Suicide Squad last night with my dear friend. It was like DC told James Gunn "do whatever you want that even Marvel says 'NO' to with this movie." It was intense, all over the place, and hilariously gross. If you don't like seeing kids reenact adult humored cartoons like South Park...

Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy

Saw Space Jam: New Legacy yesterday. While it was amusing at times, and has an awareness to its conceptual absurdity, it's not consistent enough to be satire critiquing on Hollywood's nostalgia algorithm when it's very much a product of that. I was also disappointed to not hear the Space Jam theme s...

Re: Black Widow

Last Friday, me and a dear friend went to see Black Widow, and we both enjoyed it. While I wasn't amused by Taskmaster's depiction compared to what I've seen of the character from Marvel's cartoons, I'm just glad Natasha Romanov finally received her own popcorn movie, rather than it never happening....
