Yet another great family classic from Disney: Holes.
With so many modern movies centered around
selfishness, finally a movie that teaches the virture
of selflessness and caring for others. The plot is
very clever and entertaining. The love story is also
very touching, but not typically cheesey. I also
loved Jon Voight in this movie. I kept wondering when
Jon Voight was going to come into the movie, and then
finally realized 3/4's of the way through that he is
Mr. Sir! -William West There are so many reasons I like Holes. It's funny and it's sad. It has
suspense and mystery. But the thing I like the most about Holes is that it's
about family and friendship. Holes shows how the strength of family can
pull you through any situation. How love transcends time and how being
different from one another can pull you together. Its a classic family
movie that will enjoyed by everyone for a long time. I was finally able to watch Holes a few months ago when it came
out on DVD. While director Andrew Davis' only
other movie I enjoyed was The Fugitive, I felt that the live-action part
of Disney was on a streak. Needless to say, I had high hopes for this
movie. Someone had told me how this movie reminded them of old Disney
classics, and I totally agree. There is a certain amount of magic and
fairy-tale quality to the movie, as well as some great comedic moments
and fantastic characters. Sigourney Weaver's Warden and Shia LaBeouf's
Stanley Yelnats will become two of the most cherised characters in Disney
movie history. Digging up some holes,
